How much room does an air hockey table need?
The room must contain the cabinet and the players. Add at least 36 inches beyond each player end and 12 inches along the sides for a minimum planning layout. A comfortable starting point is 42 inches at the ends and 18 inches at the sides. More clearance benefits adults, energetic play and people using mobility devices.

Usable room versus nominal room
Measure between the real obstructions. A room described as 14 by 10 feet can have a door swing, deep shelving or a circulation path that removes usable space. Test the table rotated, but keep the larger clearance at the two player ends.
